In 2006/07 the Cold Lake Native Friendship Centre served over 8000 people.
There are over 4000 people in the Cold Lake region that are described as people of Aboriginal origin (First Nation, Métis and Inuit).
To bridge the gap between aboriginals and non-aboriginals. Our vision is for a City that can live in harmony with many different cultural backgrounds.
After a humble beginning as a satellite office of the Bonnyville Canadian Native Friendship Centre, the Cold Lake Native Friendship Centre was officially incorporated in 1981. Since that time the Centre has grown to become a central Aboriginal organization for youth, Elders and the general population. As a pillar in the community for Aboriginal interests, many of the Friendship Centre’s programs are geared towards issues important to Aboriginals. This centre has promoted understanding between Aboriginals and non-aboriginals with positive programs and participation in city events while maintaining and educating on the richly diverse Aboriginal cultures of the region.
"The Friendship Centre is the only place in town my retired friends and I can meet and catch up on local happenings. We can have free tea, use the phone and get information explained to us. The Centre offers some interesting workshops for elders."
—Cold Lake Elder

"I can learn stuff at the youth centre and also get an education through the school. It’s a safe place to be."
